Quincy L. Cawthorne is an experienced trial attorney based in Lafayette, Louisiana with more than two decades of legal practice focused on civil litigation, personal injury, and criminal defense. He is a founding partner at Doran & Cawthorne, PLLC, where he has played a key leadership role in managing complex, high-stakes litigation matters since the firm’s founding in 2007.
Mr. Cawthorne is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, the youngest of thirteen children. He graduated from the historic Booker T. Washington High School before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dillard University. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center, graduating cum laude in 2005. He was admitted to practice law in Louisiana in 2005 and Texas in 2007, and has since built a reputation as a skilled litigator handling serious injury claims and multifaceted legal disputes.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Cawthorne has represented clients in a wide range of matters, including catastrophic personal injury cases, wrongful death claims, and criminal defense proceedings. His practice emphasizes both trial and appellate advocacy, and he has litigated cases before Louisiana and Texas courts as well as in Mississippi.
With approximately 21 years of legal experience, Mr. Cawthorne is recognized for his professional excellence and has been selected to Super Lawyers, an honor reserved for a small percentage of attorneys demonstrating peer recognition and outstanding achievement. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and The National Trial Lawyers Top 100, reflecting his success in high-value litigation. He was recently named to the Southern University Law Center Hall of Fame Class of 2025, an honor reserved for distinguished alumni whose professional excellence, leadership, and commitment to service have made a lasting impact on the legal community.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Cawthorne served a six-year appointment on the Board of Supervisors for the Southern University System, supporting higher education and institutional governance.
Mr. Cawthorne is a member of the St. Landry and Lafayette Parish Bar Associations, the National Trial Lawyers Association, the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), the Texas Bar Association (TBA), and the National Bar Association.

Mr. Cawthorne is married to Kasha Cawthorne. They have two children, Chase and Quinn.
