Adrejia Lajoy Ann Boutté is a Senior Attorney and the Chief Operating Officer in the Baton Rouge office of Doran & Cawthorne, PLLC. As a native of Olivier and New Iberia, LA, she grew up in a Louisiana Creole French and English-speaking household. Adrejia handles personal injury, insurance defense, creditors’ rights, and compliance related matters [including but not limited to, corporate consultation and training regarding organizational/business ethics, state, federal, and industry standards, and on cyber risk insurance policy issues].
She is a former in-house counsel for the State of Louisiana; a commercial defense litigator; an adjunct instructor for paralegal studies at Herzing University; and an Academic Counselor for Southern University Law Center. As a licensed Title Insurance Producer, Adrejia has performed limited real estate closings work and plaintiff work for a title insurance company. With a certification in Basic Mediation and Conflict Resolution, she also has experience as a co-arbitrator on issues of creditor/debtor and landlord/tenant disputes and experience as a business consultant for the homeless and small businesses.
As a national and statewide presenter, she has (and does) spoken on cyber risk insurance, diversity & inclusion objectives, education inequities, the Innocence Project Program in law schools, the value of multicultural organizations, the Louisiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the value of a written contract, and ethics and professionalism for lawyers, insurance claims adjusters and agents, physicians, and business owners.
Actively involved in her community, Adrejia is a volunteer fee dispute arbitrator for the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) and an editor for LSBA Bar Journal, among other organizations. She has volunteered with the MDA Telethon Executive Lock-up, The ProBono Project, the Law and Civic Education’s “We the People” competitions, Lawyers in Libraries, the New Orleans Teen Court, the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation, the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., and with various other community beneficial entities in the state and across the nation.
Adrejia received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology from Xavier University School of Louisiana and a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Southern University Law Center. She also has a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Business Law, with a Certificate in Compliance Studies. She resides in Baton Rouge with her two cats: Mufasa “Fossie-Pants” and Greyjoy “Grapee.”
